More Funding for Digital Media Business

The Welsh Government is quadrupling the fund available to digital media companies based in Wales.

It follows the Business Minister Edwina Hart announcement yesterday for an additional £1.5m which will now total £2m. The fund is available until March 2013. The fund will assist businesses with a grant to help develop new creative products, applications in multiple digital platforms including international markets.

“The Fund is supporting companies around Wales to develop a number of interesting, innovative and commercially-viable projects with the potential to help fuel the growth of this creative industries sector. “Initially launched as a pilot project, I am now pleased to announce it is to be extended for another year and have allocated additional funding. Interest from Welsh businesses remains high, with more than 100 expressions of interest received to date.” stated by Business Minister Edwina Hart.

Brilliant news - It is great to see First Minister’s visit to India, which is becoming a digital hub for Asia and additional funding for Wales Digital Media Businesses, this could set up Wales in promoting its intentions as a Digital Country and open to create more links with countries such as India.
