London 2012 Olympics Started in Cardiff, Wales

Today in Cardiff, the Millennium Stadium was host to the first games of the London 2012 Olympics. It was the women football match between Great Britain versus New Zealand.

The city centre streets were closed to traffic, to welcome all international visitors and ensure the best possible experience. There was street entertainment, many volunteers to help with any directions and many locals were watching the first match at the Hayes square where there is a wall  large screen with opposite seats which were packed.

Yesterday 25th July 2012, the london olympics 2012 have begun in Cardiff, however the official opening ceremony is only today 26th July 2012 in London. Wales was privileged to have the opening women football match, where the whole world was watching into the Welsh capital.

The Olympics have a huge presence in Cardiff, in this picture it can be seen the official olympics logo is displayed in the park right opposite the city hall.

We enjoyed very much walking around the streets of Cardiff, seeing many international visitors with their own official clothing representative of their countries. Furthermore, on some street international visitors were playing their traditional music with their own instruments, and there was a party atmosphere.
